Jonathan has served as the Company’s chief executive officer (CEO) since February 2015 and president since February 2013. Jonathan has also served as a member of Ellie Mae’s Board of Directors since February 2015. Previously, Jonathan served as the Company’s chief operating officer from November 2011 to February 2015, executive vice president and chief strategy officer from November 2009 to November 2011, as chief strategy officer from August 2005 to November 2009 and as the Company’s senior vice president of product management from October 2002 to August 2005. Prior to joining the Company, Jonathan held executive and management positions at PeopleSoft, Inc., KANA, BroadBase Software, and Netscape Communications. Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from Columbia University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Stanford University.
Peter Hirsch EVP, Technology & Operations
Peter has served as our executive vice president of technology and operations since June 2015, overseeing all our technology areas including development and quality assurance, product architecture, performance engineering, technical operations, and SaaS operations. Peter previously served as chief technology officer and senior vice president of cloud engineering and technology for Ariba where he led the mainline cloud engineering team. Prior to Ariba, Peter served as chief architect and business unit leader for IBM’s collaborative business process management applications where he helped establish IBM’s presence in commercial SaaS applications. He received a BS in electrical engineering and a MS in electrical engineering from the University of Southern California.
Limin Hu EVP & CTO
Limin has served as chief technology officer (CTO) since the inception of Ellie Mae in August, 1997. From January, 1996 to August, 1997, he was CTO and president of Hugo Technologies, Inc., a technology consulting firm. Prior to Hugo, he was vice president and general manager at Teknekron Corporation, a software consulting company. He has also held various research positions at IBM Research Center. Limin holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University and a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the UC Berkeley.
Edgar A. Luce EVP & CFO
Edgar has served as chief financial officer (CFO) since July, 2005. From November 2004 to July 2005, Edgar served as acting CFO for the company. Prior to joining Ellie Mae, Edgar served as CFO for Sanarus Medical, Inc., a medical device company. Before Sanarus, he was CFO, secretary and treasurer at ComView Corporation, a cardiology imaging software company. Prior to ComView, Edgar was CFO at Biex, Inc., a healthcare company, and VP of Finance and Administration and Corporate Secretary for Penederm Inc., a public dermatology products company. Edgar holds a BA in Economics from Stanford University and an MBA in Finance from the UC Los Angeles.
Cathleen Schreiner Gates EVP, Sales & Marketing
Cathleen has served as our executive vice president of sales & marketing since March 2015, overseeing all sales, marketing, client management, professional services and customer support and training. Previously, Cathleen served as our senior vice president of sales and client services from February 2012 to March 2015. From January 2010 to December 2011 Cathleen served as senior vice president of sales and client services for Bersin & Associates and from October 2008 to December 2010 she served as vice president of sales, business development and client success for Clickability, Inc. She has held various senior management positions with MarketTools, Inc. and Keynote Systems/Vividence, Inc. Cathleen holds an MBA in finance from the Rutgers Graduate School of Management and a BA in French literature from Douglass College-Rutgers University.
Joe Tyrrell EVP, Corporate Strategy
Joe has served as our executive vice president of corporate strategy since March 2015, overseeing our product strategy, product management and our business and corporate development efforts involving our network of current and potential business partners and merger and acquisition strategies. Joe has been with our company since 2002 and previously held the positions of senior vice president of corporate strategy from May 2014 to March 2015 and senior vice president of client management and business development from August 2013 to March 2014. Prior to joining Ellie Mae, Joe served as vice president for Providian Financial in addition to other executive positions within the mortgage industry. Joe holds a Bachelors of Art in Business Management from St. Mary’s College.
Melanie Simpson EVP, Human Resources
Melanie has served as our executive vice president of Human Resources since July 2016, helping attract and retain top talent to expand Ellie Mae’s profile as a leading technology employer. Melanie previously served as the General Manager of Human Resources for Microsoft’s World Wide Services business where she was responsible for partnering with business leaders and leading the HR agenda for the organization, stretching across multiple functions, sites and geographies. Prior to her work with Microsoft, Melanie was the Director of Talent Management for Safeco Insurance and Global Engagement Leader for GE Money. Melanie is certified Six Sigma Black Belt and holds a BS in chemical engineering from the University of Melbourne and a post-graduate certificate in Human Resources Management from Swinburne University.
Jeff Benjamin SVP, Sales & Client Management
Jeff has served as senior vice president of sales and client management since July 2014, managing the teams responsible for acquiring new Encompass clients as well as the teams who manage client relationships. He is also responsible for managing channel partners in the origination space. Jeff joined Ellie Mae in 2001. Prior to his current role, he served as Ellie Mae’s vice president of sales for the Company’s banking division. Before joining Ellie Mae, Jeff served as executive vice president of sales for Desert Document Services. Jeff holds a BA in International Affairs from the University of Colorado.
Susan Chenoweth SVP, Marketing
Susan has served as senior vice president (SVP) of Marketing since December, 2012, overseeing the development and execution of Ellie Mae’s marketing, branding, communications and client acquisition strategies. Susan previously held global executive marketing positions at leading software companies including Saba, Jigsaw ( acquired by Salesforce.com), Taleo and Commerce One. Susan has also held marketing positions for Netscape, Microsoft and IBM. She holds a BS in business economics from University of California, Santa Barbara.
Ting Wu SVP, Technology
Ting has served as senior vice president (SVP) of Technology since August 2007. Ting began his career with Ellie Mae as development manager in 2000 and was subsequently promoted to director and VP positions. Ting has also served as a faculty research assistant with the Center for Automation Research at the University of Maryland, as well as with IBM’s internet division. He was lead engineer with Prodigy before serving as lead architect with S&P, Comstock. Ting received his BS in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University. He received an MS in electrical engineering from Northwestern University, and received his Ph.D. from the University of Southern California.
Brian Brown SVP & General Counsel
Brian is Ellie Mae’s senior vice president (SVP) and general counsel, and previously served as our vice president of legal affairs from March 2015 to February 2016 and senior corporate counsel from January 2014 to March 2015. A seasoned corporate attorney, Brian served as corporate associate for Goodwin Procter LLP, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati, and Kirkland & Ellis LLP, representing private equity firms and Silicon Valley companies in mergers, acquisitions, venture capital and securities transactions. He holds a JD from Boston College Law School.
Matt LaVay SVP, Finance
Matt has served as our senior vice president (SVP), finance since November, 2014. From May 2012-October 2014, he served as VP, corporate controller. Prior to Ellie Mae, Matt served as VP, corporate controller for Taleo Corporation and corporate controller and senior director of Finance for Scientific Learning Corporation. He has also served as corporate controller for Thomas Weisel Partners Group, Inc. and in various director and managerial positions for Salesforce.com, PeopleSoft, Inc. and Arthur Andersen LLP. He holds a Master of Professional Accountancy from Georgia State University and a BS in Industrial Management from The Georgia Institute of Technology. Matt is a Certified Public Accountant in the state of California.
Lisa Bruun SVP, Administration
Lisa has served as senior vice president of Administration since 2016, responsible for the administration team, as well as office planning, facilities management, real estate contracts and due diligence. Previously she served as Ellie Mae’s senior vice president (SVP) and VP of Human Resources, a role she held since 1999. Prior to Ellie Mae she was a human resources consultant with Levi Strauss & Company as well as director of technical recruiting for Comsys Technical Services Inc./Knauer Consulting. A 20-year veteran of human resource leadership experience, Lisa has also served as VP of Human Resources and Administration for 800-Software, Inc., a subsidiary of Digital Equipment Inc. Lisa is also a certified SPHR- SHRM Senior Human Resource Professional.
Lester Liu SVP, Corporate Development
Lester has served as our senior vice president of corporate development since June 2016. He leads mergers and acquisitions, integration and strategic planning. Prior to joining Ellie Mae, Lester served as vice president of global corporate development, M&A and strategy for Visa, where he led transaction execution and developed M&A strategy. Prior to Visa, Lester was a senior vice president in technology M&A with Lehman Brothers / Barclays and held similar leadership positions with Merrill Lynch and Thomas Weisel Partners. Lester holds an MBA from The Wharton School and a BA in Quantitative Economics from Stanford University.
